Kiwi K.A.R.E is a team of passionate, dedicated and skilled individuals who work collaboratively and in partnership with aligned organisations to make a positive and impactful difference to Ukrainians in need. Our ‘light HQ’ administrative approach means money donated is money spent directly on humanitarian aid and support. It means we have to be efficient, effective and innovative in our approach. It means we can make every dollar go further.

We operate as one team with registered Ukrainian NGO Day-By-Day Foundation. Established in May 2022, Day-By-Day formed a partnership with Kiwi K.A.R.E in November of the same year, bringing together the combination of strategic planning, operational efficiency and humanitarian mission funding.

Their deep-seated and wide-ranging connections provide pivotal momentum to our work. During our time in partnership we have travelled over 2.5 million kilometers on humanitarian missions and evacuations, delivered over 2,000 beds to hospitals, evacuated over 5,500 civilians (either through in situ operationsor facilitated by Kiwi K.A.R.E funding), including patient transfers and long-haul evacuations of entire family groups to western Ukraine and Poland, fabricated over 6,500 stoves and water boilers (with constant requests for more) and completed over 700 missions to red zone areas.

Our work is far reaching, our impact on Ukraine is life-changing, and our ability to continue and build our support to the people of Ukraine is contingent on the continued support of our generous donors and supporters.

Hard wired to make a difference - where it all began

A former New Zealand Army Colonel, respected and highly successful businessman, Tenby Powell was watching television in February 2022, horrified as thousands of Russian troops poured into Ukraine with heavy amour and artillery. He wanted to do something significant to help.

Tenby felt compelled to use his professional experience to assist Ukrainians in need and, on entering Ukraine and seeing the vast humanitarian and medical need, he had a burning desire to establish a New Zealand flagged humanitarian aid organization.
‍
Calling on friends and connections for support, Tenby set up Kiwi K.A.R.E, and within months the organisation was operating exclusively in Ukraine’s Red Zones (the newly liberated areas and those towns and villages closest to the front line), delivering humanitarian and medical aid directly to medical units, Red Zone hospitals and residents.
